Lyon, France Delivers Another Esports Spectacle!

A record-breaking crowd, jaw-dropping upsets, and a new World Champion crowned in the heart of Lyon!

Just one week after the Fortnite Championship Series World Finals, Lyon once again DID NOT disappoint, delivering one of the most hype, passionate crowds we’ve seen at any esports event this year.

Intense 1v1 and 3v3 Battles All Week

From September 9th to September 14th, the action never stopped. The event kicked off with high-stakes 3v3 and 1v1 matches, where some of the world’s most talented players went head-to-head for the ultimate bragging rights. In the end, it was Nwpo from Twisted Minds who rose above the rest, defeating Mawkzy from the host country of France and claiming the 1v1 Championship trophy and a cool $35,000, much to the dismay of the French crowd.

Other than their disappointment with the outcome, the crowd was on its feet for every clutch save and insane aerial goal!

However, the biggest fireworks came from the 3v3 tournament. With 20 teams battling it out in best-of-five and best-of-seven series, every round was packed with upsets, last-second goals, and unforgettable moments. New faces broke through, fan favorites stumbled, and underdogs made deep runs that had the arena shaking.

Grand Finals: NRG Esports vs. Team Falcons

After a wild week of Rocket League, it all came down to a Grand Finals showdown between Team Falcons from Saudi Arabia and North America’s own NRG Esports. Both teams had to claw their way through a stacked bracket, but in the end, it was the trio of Daniel, BeastMode, and Atomic, led by coach Satthew, who hoisted the trophy and were crowned World Champions!

NRG’s teamwork, precision, and clutch factor were on full display, and their thrilling victory earned them a massive $300,000 prize. BeastMode lit up the stage with highlight plays and leadership, earning himself the coveted MVP award for the tournament!

Team Falcons didn’t walk away empty-handed either. They had some of the most exciting moments of the tournament, including a crazy save against Wildcard on their way to securing an impressive $153,000 for their second-place finish. They made the Middle East proud with their incredible run.

It’s safe to assume that Team Falcons will be back in the mix of top RLCS teams for years to come!
